Another weekend, with the "wow" factor. In fact, Saturday was a bit different, as we didn't have a teacher, so 4 of us managed on our own. We made some "mistakes", but that is not a problem; we'll probably remember the "correct" way better.
Sunday was very very intense. Our teacher Y was there, and we started with the "phronic", the sounds, that I shall be working on in Andorra. I think I'll have to ask to be seated near the front on each case, so as to be able to hear.
We then did the "child" exercise again. I should try to explain.
One of the things in Sophro is to let the un/subconscious talk. The child that we all suppressed gets a chance to have his/her say in a safe environment, because, after all, it is all in the imagination...it is not real! What is real is that we can allow that child to express themselves, to the person concerned, and then we can comfort our own child. Written down it seems a bit bizarre (hey, that's the rational adult talking) but it does work for me.
I have been re reading Eric Berne, and his theory of Transactional Analysis, and the first thing that hit me is that he too was a phenomonologist; and Y uses an adaptation of it in his teaching.
My child came up with things that I really had not realised were a problem. And I was able to comfort my child.
Pam, the original SHE, has the same idea with her brat/princess. It is absolutely not about multiple personalities, but accepting all the facets of who we are, both real and imaginary!
One of the things that is the most important in Sopohrology is to be able to imagine your future, then to plan how to reach it. This future is imaginary, but that shouldn't stop you from aiming for it. It seems a bit contradictory at first, but then a lot of the inspirational reading I have been doing backs it up. First we dream, then we plan, then we put into action.....
I have been having problems imagining my future, which I think is probably a symptom of my recent depression. It doesn't stop me dreaming at night, and my imagination is really running riot there, a bit on the dark side, to paraphrase from a well know franchise of films. I certainly do not wish to put these into action!
What does seem to be working is taking a belief, and working on it to change it. The one I am working on at the moment, is "I am organised"...I say it to myself frequently, preferably in the sophro state i.e. just between sleeping and waking. I am seeing the results, especially at work. So the next one will be, I am committed to losing weight!
